long time, no post...

Life has been pretty hectic lately.  I had my birthday month, I started a new job, the holidays snuck up on me.... I feel like I haven't had time to do much posting so I am combining a few projects in this post.

One of the Sundays we didn't have family dinner so my dad and I sat down to play in watercolors.  I didn't really know what I wanted to do with them, but I had fun getting some swatches made.  Now when I am ready to start a project, I have the swatches to help me choose my colors!

I worked on my card project for December. Card reveal later since I can't share yet, but below is the craftermath.  I hate when I have what I think is a fantastic idea in my head but I can't seem to get it to work out on paper.  Finally got it to a good enough spot before turning it in, but it still wasn't what I had envisioned.

I haven't sent my nieces a postcard in a while, so I thought I would do one for Halloween and one for Thanksgiving.  The Halloween one I made a color your own monster card.  They thought it was cute.  For Thanksgiving I traced a turkey I found online and then colored it and did some hand lettering to finish it off.

My grandma turned 80 earlier this month and we held a party for her.  Part of my job was creating a banner.  I bought a premade one at Michael's that was a chalkboard front and then used a gold chalk marker to spell out happy birthday.  I didn't get a great picture, but this shows it once it is hung.

And lastly, here are my cards from September and October classes.  I can post them now that the class is over.

Challenge # 2 Complete!

So the reason I decided to do these keychains is because I saw them here (http://etsyrussianteam.blogspot.com/2011/06/moustache-keychain.html) which I linked to from Pinterest. The only problem with this tutorial is that I couldn't get my sewing machine to cooperate with me and the fabric. It was just too small to sew and it kept shifting and messing up. So I thought about it and decided I could do it by hand. Materials: Scissors, Pen, Adhesive, Fabric, Embroidery Floss, Thread, Template, Sewing Needle, Embroidery Needle I started out by cutting out a mustache template using my Cricut and the Bump in the Night cartridge. I used a heavy cardstock so that I could trace it without too much problem. I then traced the mustache onto the WRONG side of the fabric two times because we will sandwich them together to create the keychain. You will also need to cut a small rectangular piece which will be used to attach the mustache to your keyring. template and mustaches traced on...

Easter weekend...

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a great weekend :) I sure did! My boyfriend was in town and we got to do a lot together. Yesterday we went to the movies and then dinner with his parents and then we went to a park to walk around for a little bit before going to the Easter Vigil at my church. I'm so glad he got to experience that with me because it's my most favorite mass of the whole entire year. Then today we went to the Reds game with his friend Tanner and my friend Sammie. Shout out to Momma Tree for the tickets - thank you sooooo much! It was a beautiful day and a great game with awesome peeps :) The only bad parts were the sunburn and the fact that my Ky had to go back to school :( but I shall see him soon enough! I'm heading to Athens on Thursday to spend a few days with him and see where he gets edumacated. On another note, I haven't gotten my challenge yet, so in the meantime I shall talk about a recent project. Most recent would have to be the mustache keych...

Sunday Funday...or Fight day?

So tonight was pretty crazy, but before I get into that, a recap of the week is necessary... Wednesday was pretty ordinary - work job #1, work job #2, laundry and then I worked on the story I've been writing. The rough draft is complete so all I need to do is write the final copy :) Thursday was a long day. I worked a long shift, but I felt like I got nothing done because I kept having to move around and work all over the place. I work at a health club and can work a lot of different positions (since I've been there 11 years...) and I ended up having to cover a shift for an hour and a half and then another shift for an hour so that didn't leave much time for me to get my work done :( After work I did a pilates class and then attempted to run, but failed because pilates was intense and I couldn't push myself to finish the run... Friday I worked both jobs and then got to go home to my new Stampin Up! shipment! That excited me because I've been waiting for it to ...
