Pinterest Craft Fail...sort of

So my friend's daughter is in town for the summer.  She loves tie dye and I was looking for something to do with her.  I saw a few things on Pinterest where they used Sharpies to tie dye shoes.  I showed her, asked if she wanted to do it, she said yes so I ordered the supplies (thanks Amazon Prime Day!).  I researched a few different designs we could try.  She wanted to do all rainbow, normal tie dye looking with doodles on top when finished.  I wanted to do a galaxy-ish motif.  To say things didn't go as planned is an understatement.  Certain colors worked better than others, we got high on alcohol fumes, it was a mess.  We did have fun though, and that's all that matters.  I think her shoes turned out way better than mine and she is proud of her work. I was sad mine didn't turn out well, but tried to save it by adding color to the seams and adding affirmations to each one.

Check out our work below and let me know if you've ever tried it!

Challenge # 2 Complete!

So the reason I decided to do these keychains is because I saw them here (http://etsyrussianteam.blogspot.com/2011/06/moustache-keychain.html) which I linked to from Pinterest. The only problem with this tutorial is that I couldn't get my sewing machine to cooperate with me and the fabric. It was just too small to sew and it kept shifting and messing up. So I thought about it and decided I could do it by hand. Materials: Scissors, Pen, Adhesive, Fabric, Embroidery Floss, Thread, Template, Sewing Needle, Embroidery Needle I started out by cutting out a mustache template using my Cricut and the Bump in the Night cartridge. I used a heavy cardstock so that I could trace it without too much problem. I then traced the mustache onto the WRONG side of the fabric two times because we will sandwich them together to create the keychain. You will also need to cut a small rectangular piece which will be used to attach the mustache to your keyring. template and mustaches traced on...

Easter weekend...

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a great weekend :) I sure did! My boyfriend was in town and we got to do a lot together. Yesterday we went to the movies and then dinner with his parents and then we went to a park to walk around for a little bit before going to the Easter Vigil at my church. I'm so glad he got to experience that with me because it's my most favorite mass of the whole entire year. Then today we went to the Reds game with his friend Tanner and my friend Sammie. Shout out to Momma Tree for the tickets - thank you sooooo much! It was a beautiful day and a great game with awesome peeps :) The only bad parts were the sunburn and the fact that my Ky had to go back to school :( but I shall see him soon enough! I'm heading to Athens on Thursday to spend a few days with him and see where he gets edumacated. On another note, I haven't gotten my challenge yet, so in the meantime I shall talk about a recent project. Most recent would have to be the mustache keych...

long time, no post...

Life has been pretty hectic lately.  I had my birthday month, I started a new job, the holidays snuck up on me.... I feel like I haven't had time to do much posting so I am combining a few projects in this post. One of the Sundays we didn't have family dinner so my dad and I sat down to play in watercolors.  I didn't really know what I wanted to do with them, but I had fun getting some swatches made.  Now when I am ready to start a project, I have the swatches to help me choose my colors! I worked on my card project for December. Card reveal later since I can't share yet, but below is the craftermath.  I hate when I have what I think is a fantastic idea in my head but I can't seem to get it to work out on paper.  Finally got it to a good enough spot before turning it in, but it still wasn't what I had envisioned.  I haven't sent my nieces a postcard in a while, so I thought I would do one for Halloween and one for Thanksgiving.  The Halloween one...
